Brief Abstracts of Scheduled Presentations Allied Development - Allied Development provides a wide variety of economic analysis services. The presentation will describe and demonstrate its on-line economic analysis tool, the SavvyPack™ System. This tool provides remarkable detail and accuracy in analyzing package manufacturing and filling economics. Colbert Packaging – Packages are increasingly required to provide security for their contents and to do so in a wider variety of environments. In addition to describing the evolving needs, this presentation will present several case studies of how paperboard based designs have improved product security and protection while enhancing ease of opening and product marketability. Equity Packaging – Outsourcing of packaging functions is rapidly increasing. This presentation will discuss packager’s needs, how services are being outsourced, and the advantages and disadvantages associated with outsourcing packaging functions. Green Bay Packaging - This presentation will address the increasingly important question of package sustainability in the US consumer marketplace. Information will be provided to help packaging users as they work with suppliers to create and implement earth friendly packages. Humidipak – Optimum levels of product moisture content differ for different foods and other common products; quality and performance deteriorate when product moisture content varies. An innovative 2-way humidity control technology will be described that controls product moisture content in packages to extend shelf life, along with several commercial examples. Intermec & Informs – In response to increasing mandates for RFID-compliant shipments to retailers and the U.S. DOD; Intermec, Informs and EPC Solutions have introduced the Informs RFID Experience in a Box Kit. The joint effort brings affordable RFID compliance to small and medium-sized businesses and includes everything required to meet RFID compliance mandates, apply RFID tags and verify tag information. Within minutes of unpacking the kit, users can generate and read RFID Gen2 labels. Printpack – As consumer needs evolve, packaging must change to meet new needs and provide additional functionality. This presentation will focus on market trends and how flexible packaging, in particular, is meeting these needs with new materials and package formats.
